Doug Verley, CFP®
Doug is the founder of Verley Financial. In his over 30- year career, he has helped his clients with the complexities of financial planning by drawing on his education, experience, and background as a CFP®, Certified Financial Planner. Doug also holds the Series 7, 22, 63, and 65 securities registrations, as well as life, health, and annuities licenses. A graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, Doug also attended graduate school at Iowa State University.
Doug and his wife, Julie, have three grown children and three grandsons. He has been active in his church, serving as a past president, board member, teacher, and endowment committee member. Currently, Doug is a member of the stewardship committee at Canton Lutheran. He has also served on several other non-profit boards and was a co-founder of the Canton School District K-12 Foundation. He has also been involved in establishing endowment funds at various churches. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, hunting, attending high school athletic events, and spending time with his family.
Laura Blankenship, JD
Laura completed her undergraduate work at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD. She attended law school at the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis, MN on a full-tuition academic scholarship. Laura joined Verley Financial in 2008, after spending several years practicing as an estate planning attorney. Laura’s legal background and experiences provide her clients with a unique perspective as a financial advisor. Her other professional credentials include Series 7 and 66 securities registrations, as well as life, health, and annuities licenses.
Laura is the 2018-2019 president of the Sioux Falls Estate Planning Council and serves on the Canton Lutheran Church endowment committee. She is a past Lincoln County 4-H leader. She loves the outdoors and spending time with her family. She lives on an acreage with her husband, Steve, and son, Gavin, along with horses, donkeys, chickens, a dog and a cat.
Julie has been responsible for Verley Financial’s daily operating activities for over three decades. These activities would include client services, marketing, management of new business submissions, and a wide variety of organizational tasks. Her professional credentials include having her life, health and annuity licenses.
A graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, MN in elementary education and English, her hobbies include travel, music, the arts, reading, and spending time with her three grandsons and her children. Julie has been very active in her community, having served as her church’s president, a past president and co-founder of the Canton School District K-12 Foundation, and a past president of the Jaycee Women of Marshall, MN. She has been a member of the Minn-IA-Kota Girl Scouts and the Sanford Canton-Inwood Medical Center boards, and enjoyed her nine years as a school board member for the Canton SD school district.
Client Service Representative
Meredith began her career with Verley Financial in 2018. She brings a decade of experience working in customer service as a former small business owner. As our client service representative, Meredith schedules appointments, assists with daily office functions, such as client paperwork and answering client questions, and many other support activities. She enjoys working one-on-one with our clients to help them with their needs.
She is active in the Canton community serving as a co-chair for the local swimming pool committee and teaching Wednesday School at her church. She loves spending free time with her husband, Darin, and their three sons, Judson, Lawson and Weston.
